HappyHour
Just figured I would start this thread. So what happened this past weekend out there in our beloved Dumont??? Bummed I didn't go, but glad I didn't have to deal with the crowd out there, I can't stand crowds that are too big personally. But anyway, dish out the dirt on the weekend, I can't wait to hear what happened.............. :headbang: :mc_smiley:  B) :mc_smiley: :mc_smiley:

dunefreak
TDAY weekend was fun. Despite having 2 broken wrists, I still had fun. :headbang: The wind sucked on Saturday and Sat night though. It got pretty bad. The DDR ride was fun too despite the wind. No one got hurt in our crowd until the last couple hours before we left, a friend in our camp who hasn't ridden much got hurt on our friend's KFX700. She went over the finger dune (razor back) and I guess rolled it a few times. She was in a lot of pain (back or hip) so they took her by ambulance to a hospital in town (Vegas). Hopefully she is ok. Will know more by tomarrow. I'll get some of my dune pics from the weekend up soon. Edited November 30, 2005 by duniemonkie

Sunday was the best day. The sand was clean and the dunes were sharp. Gotta love Dumont!! I'll agree with that. This weekend was awesome. Thursday and Friday were perfect for weather but Sunday morning was definitely the best for the dunes. After all the wind Saturday night the dune were smooth as a babies butt on Sunday. trickyLS-2racer
i saw alot of really sweet rails out this weekend with alot of idiot drivers in them!!!!!! There is a time and a place to ride wheelies across the middle of comp hill!!! We watched a long travel car start on the right side of the ridge that runs up the hill and ride a wheelie over to his left side and blindly run over the top of a jeep cheroke that was coming down the hill,, freekin mooron!!! the jeep rolled down the hill 5 or 6 times and amazingly came to rest about 200' from the bottom of the hill! The roof of the jeep looked like a can opener had been taken to it ,peeled back from the drivers side!! Suprisengly no one was killed. And to top it all off the driver of the rail left the accident :headbang: My wife and i watched the whole thing and it really put a scare in her , we will be tring to make more off weekends with our family for sure!!!!!!!!! Hopefully the people in the jeep are ok !!!!

80grit
I was making a run up comp hill on my quad and had a rail turn into my lane right in front of me. Had to lock up the brakes at 65 mph plus. My T day near miss experience.
HI Turtle
IMHO, comp hill gets way too crowded to run the speeds people go. Then throw in a buggy that goes wheeling across it and you got nothing but an accident waiting to happen. :headbang:

dunefreak
hey pete-any new news on our friend at the campsite?I hope she is okay. Oh yeah forgot. Jim told me today that she (Dorie) broke her arm near her elbow and her tailbone too! :headbang: Sucks bad for her. I hope she gets better soon, but unfortunatley she is gonna be out for a while I think. The worst part about it was she just started a new job and yep, NO INSURANCE! That ride from Dumont to the hospital is gonna be a pretty penny. I thought I had it bad w/ 2 broken wrists.
crazymexeddie
Just a thought-but maybe we could somehow hold a benefit type party to help her out because it is the holidays and she could use all the financial help she could get.20 dollars here-20 dollars there-anything to help her out i think we should do it. Not a bad idea, count me in for twenty. I know how it hurts going to a new job. I still haven't got a full paycheck since I just transfered over to my new job. Hope she is ok and it doesn't discourage her from coming out anymore. I broke my shoulder 2 Pres's days back and still hate cresting the razors sometimes, especially jumping them. Pete, let me know what you decide to do. Later, J.J.

Hopefully the people in the jeep are ok !!!! This is becoming a big problem quickly too! People need to take time and learn how to drive safely when they get a rail. Like you said, there is a time and place for doing wheelies and stuff. With companies financing sandrails more & more lately, there are a lot of inexperienced drivers out there in cars that can really get them or someone else hurt or killed. sduncan
Hello to all. My first post here but I recognize a lot of names. I got to Comp right after the accident and my friend told me what happened. Apparently two older fellows were in the white Sidekick. The rail wheelied over the top of them, rolling them over 4-5times. The driver of the rail went to the bottom of the hill and stopped for about 10 min. He NEVER went to check on the sidekick! Then he attempted to leave. A friend of mine and several others chased him down and stopped him. We talked to a sherriff on a quad the next day who said he was arrested and charged with felony hit and run. He was a 30's guy from Bakersfield that some in my group knew from school years ago. The deputy also said the driver of the Sidekick had fairly severe injuries and was airlifted out to the hospital. I took a couple of pics of the Sidekick on the hill after the victims were taken out, but you can still see the damage to the car. And yep, there were way too many idiots running loose.....
