This isn't the 1st time, just the 1st time we got hit back to back to back. And yes Charity so far we got it all back.... Last month my damn co Amex was copied. Yes copied with a magnetic strip! Here in town. I am convinced it was done at the airport. But who ever did it had duplicated the card and went to Wendy's then KFC. They filled up their car at a Terribles. Then went to Walmart bought abought $200 worth of crap. Then to another and tried to do a purchase of about $1,800. That is when it was shut off Amex covered all except gas and the food. So again I hate fuggin thieves. Edited August 1, 2009 by White Rhino
Just Mike
Damn. It is hard enough to make money these days and then someone trys to take it all from you. They need to be drug behind a rail with 38" paddles through the flats by comp. That would teach them.
SandBurro
With a card, you can buy a "mag reader" which can download and store the magentic strip on the card so you can reprogram it to anothe rcard later. The difficult thing to catch about this is that the theive can reprogram one of his own personal cards that will match his ID when he uses it. The 18 year old teller behind the cashier will go through his / her usual procedure of checking the ID and name and run it through. The teller would have to had checked the last 4 numbers on the card used to the last 4 numbers that print on the receipt, 100percent of the time when they dont match, stolen card. I recommend you are present when ever they run any card that is under you or your companies name, put fraud alerts on all your accounts so when a transaction tries to hit yoru account, it must be verbally cleared through with the credit cart company. Now as far as checks go, DONT EVER USE CHECKS!! common, your pretty much giving a theive your routing number, account number, and series number for checks, whats to keep someone with a computer and printer from going to an office supply store to buy blank payroll checks and put your accounting info on them with their name ? Sorry to hear what happened. unfortunatly our current laws have not caught up with todays crime and the punishment and jail time for this type of offense would get a first offender a slap on the hand. raspadoo
i had to deal with that 3 times. and as much as everyone hates bofa . they put the money back in 24 hours. mailed me an affidavid << or however its spelled. and they handled it. Same here 4 times 3 bof credit cards and once with BofA atm card. covered it no problem. They did reccomend opening seperate interest bearing business accounts and just transferring enough to cover checks and payroll.
EY3BA11
we use a couple systems to prevent checkfraud from bofa since it happend quite a bit at work. We have a program we bought called secure pay. It takes all the checks written out of quickbooks generates a report and submits it daily to bofa. if someone trys cash a check and the number, amount, name or anythign is off its stopped then and there. Big Daddy Dunes
They are getting smarter, about ten years ago I stopped writing payroll checks from our business account. Been using a payrolling service for payroll. (I now even own part of payroll service company). Now my bank calls me if anything funny looking trys to go thru.
