Bryan M
Guys please help our off road community by being apart of this protest... From The Desk Of Don Wall/President of SNORE: Attention OHV community. SNORE Southern Nevada Off Road Enthusiasts is scheduling a protest on August 26Th Wednesday at 4 pm at 333 Las Vegas Blvd South. Harry Reid's office. The reason for the protest is the solar plant being proposed by next-light. They are gearing up to take Jean over and they get the profits and Nevada gets nothing. This is the last straw. Be at the protest on Wednesday to tell Harry Reid that enough is enough!!! If you cant be in Vegas please email him through the web site at http://reid.senate.gov/ please go to this web site and tell the Reid you DO NOT WANT THIS. Jean is our last great central race course. Free Agent
Several of the crew that work for Terribles and their friends that work other Trophy Truck crews say they are done with Baja, and want to Focus more on the Primm/Mint races. The rip-offs and corruption in Mexico is running off some good teams. The races have to be a hot load of $$ in the arm of the Nevada economy. indasand
If you have literature on the proposal that would be great to read..... A large solar project seems that in the long run would be a good thing for NV. Why they would put it in Jean IDK but..... just saying.... This state needs to get back to work and the casino's aren't doing it for us..... There's allot of desert out there for snore to create a race course around a bunch of solar chit..... superdave
all the info on these projects is at http://www.geocommunicator.gov. the government has put alternative energy on the fast track. they created a special department at the blm to ram rod all these projects through. the nextlight project is going to be behind the powerplant at primm. there are applications all over our area for solar including boulder city, jean, apex and others. i was at one of the public meetings for the nextlight project and the company couldnt even say who was going to get the power they were going to produce but admitted that the location they are applying for is the only one with no backup location. whats that tell you? they are going to get their way. they are using nevada because its cheaper to develop here, probably going to sell the power to california and use our water to clean the solar panels twice a year. i dont see what nevada gets out of the deal hence the protest at harry reids office because he is pushing for this stuff. Thats not how it works - Courses can not just be anywhere - A ton of money needs to be spent and a ton of time to get the maybe for a course. If it was that easy, everyone would be doing it... IF they plan on distributing juice to cali.. i say the move it out to the crossroads at 58 and 395 outside barstow where the other solar plant is.. maybe upgrade that one to be more efficiant.. Last i checked california had plenty of desert at well!!!
chris1223
IF they plan on distributing juice to cali.. i say the move it out to the crossroads at 58 and 395 outside barstow where the other solar plant is.. maybe upgrade that one to be more efficiant.. Last i checked california had plenty of desert at well!!! They have plenty of desert on the Cali side of the fence also -but- it is much more cost effective to be on the Nevada side. The distribution will be same as the dam - the highest bidder will get it. Nextlight will not say who is getting the power - understandably<sp?> so, but most people don’t know that Nevada was not the high bidder on the dam power and it went to Cali and others for 50 years. The unfortunate thing for the off-road community is that more people are for the solar project - There quote is "Why spare the land for a bunch of people tearing up the desert" which is not the fact, but instead is the general uneducated thinking of the general public. I don’t know if the BLM and Nextlight will be having any more meetings in regards to this project - but if there are people may want to go and see the way they are heading. There is quite a bit of arguments from both sides, and VERBAL promises of coexistence between both parties - but really I don’t see how that would work (I hope it would) - It seems like it more telling people what they want to hear
Kitcat
Great, give the power to California. Like their state is run so well. :mog: Harry Reid needs to go. I saw on the news that his popularity continues to plummet. Good! Hopefully we can get someone to replace his senate seat!
