1BADYFZ
Trying to plan a trip there sometime soon and wondered if anyone has been there and knows a few details about the RV camping and when is the best time to go. I really get worried showing up to a place i paid a good amount of money for and end up not liking the spot and hate to try and find another while I am up there.. I am sure I cant go wrong with the locations of the campgrounds but what about the layout of the camping area, the general area it is located and the people who run the campground. Also if I have to reserve ahead and what ever helpfull info anyone can tell me. I really appreciate any help I can get..Thanks

It's right on Hegben lake and of the beaten path, I think the dirt road is about 5 miles but not any worse then Dumont's entrance. It's real close to Yellowstone, and it's a nice forresty campground, I would stay there again if we go back.

Consider camping just outside the Park, then venturing in daily if ya can't find something good inside. The enviros have been very successful at getting campsites (hell, entire camping areas) removed inside of Yellowstone, Sequoia, and Yosemite. Yellowstone is off-the-hook outstanding. Free Agent
Their is snowfall just about every month,,,, then the times when snow stays on the ground. Around Halloween time the snow sticks around until early May. It could snow at any time. You'll see hail for sure, even august and Sept. If you belong to AAA, their guidebooks are free, and they can assist you in getting dialed in on camping. Most the big wildlife has their offspring the last week of May, first week of June. King Louie
We stayed in the park at Fishing Bridge campground about two years ago. The spots were kinda close together but full hookups and just a walk across the street to Lake Yellowstone. Very central location, the longest drive to the points of interest was about 45 minutes with all kinda of cool stuff to see along the way. Buffalo were hanging out in the campground, maybe 50 feet from our site!
