Mr. Sandman
We're headed out for New Years and have some friends who would like to join us but they're RV'less. We suggested they might stay in Baker and drive to and from the dunes for two to three days but in reading the online traveler reviews of the motels in Baker they'll be out of luck unless they like bed bugs, sheets stained with blood and other unknown liquids, etc. Can anyone recommend something somewhere? They're not expecting the Hilton, but at the same time they don't want an infection either. Thanks.
stock 350
there is no place in Baker I would stay , Pahrump is about 45mim away , they have a couple of hotel casinos that are a little better .
Don29palms
I wouldn't let my kids hamsters stay in any of the hotels in Baker. When you read that people chose to sleep in their car after paying for a room that is beyond bad. Maybe they could buy a tent and some sleeping bags. That would be cheaper than getting a hotel room. duniemonkie
hi, i'm anna.. don't i look good? -wink- -sizzle- What a compliment! I could never dream of being as B-E-A-UTIFUL as Joseph-ine... Shoshoni does have a motel, but I don't know how spic and span it is. I know they have a pool As long as the wind stays down they would be fine in a tent; sometimes I miss the tent days... VegasVinny
I hear there are a couple places outside of Pahrump that they can stay at and they take care of you REAL good if the price is right.
Tripleshot
Try the Longstreet hotel/casino in Armagosa. .It is right on the Nevada,/California border. Rooms are clean, food good. I stayed there with my biker group a few months ago on a ride through death valley. Check and see if it meets your needs. I believe it is closer than Baker is from the dunes. www.longstreetinncasino.com. hotel reservations number is 775-372-1777.

We had some folks that stayed in Tecopa for Halloween, I think at the Hot Springs. they said it was OK, Also there are a couple of Hostels in Tecopa. NOt sure of the quality or cleanliness though!! You will have to take a chance to avoid a long drive from the Dunes
Mr. Sandman
Thanks for the info, ideas and offers of gear. Pahrump sounds like the best option so we'll check that out and hopefully they can make it. If not, there's always a next trip and they might even have a toyhauler by then.
