andydew
I borrowed the wifes tahoe today to change the oil like a good husband would, only to discover a nasty looking burnt mark about halfway up the dipstick, far above the pan oil level. Mileage on oil change was normal, oil looked normal, but the dipstick has me a little concerned. I'm wondering if this is common on the 5.3? It could possibly be where the dipstick tube passes by the exhaust manifold...but I thought I'd ask if anyone has seen this. the mark is also where the seam in the dipstick is. It has been an awesome vehicle with no complaints, currently @ 35,ooo miles. Anyone have an idea
raspadoo
Just checked the wifes 07 tahoe, no burnt mark just joint of 2 sections of the dip stick. Approx same amount of miles and same 5.3L. First time I ever checked the oil...
andydew
hmm... yah, it is right at that section, or union. thanks; anyone else experience this?
Kitcat
Sorry - I sold my 2006 Tahoe and got a new Mercedes instead. I don't remember having this issue, but then again I'm a chick - the most I did was check my tire pressure! The rest was up to the fine service department at Henderson Chevrolet!
