bp-guy
A better picture might help out the response. Get a close up of where the shock is actually mounted to the frame.
nightime
Here is a little better photo. Anyone know what these shocks came off of? Edited April 12, 2010 by nightime
dunefreak
Are those front shocks off of a dirtbike? :rainbow1:
avduner
Looks like it will work as far as the geometry, not sure if the forks are ready for that much load though. Try it and see, most of us have a garage full of stuff that didn't work the first time.
higheroctane69
I think you are gonna be way to heavy for the dirt bike forks they are way to soft but heck try it and see you never know. I guess you have it that far along already.
Don29palms
I wouldn't trust those clamps on the upper mounting point.

It's my nephew's buggy build...he built it from scratch...all said and done he has much less than than $1500. into this thing...like the good old days! Hope it out performs the high $ rails!
raspadoo
Good eye! What year model? the luuk pretty thick like some 50mm ? He is going to have to fime some SERIOUS springs to handle the weight and probably would want to find a way to run an extra set of upper clamps. Either way props for trying something new Edited April 13, 2010 by raspadoo
nightime
The sticker says Yamaha, I think the clamps were hose clamps for mock up, looks like a thick tap welded on there in this early photo. nightime
so just curious. How did this work out?? For a low buck mini rail, it worked out nice. Still doing mods to...we made temp air scoop out of duct tape and card board to cool down the honda 929 motor.

White Rhino
wow great job, love the cardboard scoop, serious Mcgiver shizzle
nightime
I could see the front shocks being up-dated to dirt bike forks soon and some longer ltz type of arms next trip. Not much on this rail is not used....Trina "his girl-friend" even gave-up the used panty hose as the pre-filter for the air cleaner... makes the air smell better! LOL!!!
