Stray48
I have been pondering some upgrades for my Ranger but I don't want to go crazy... I have always been a Quad guy and now that I have the family I purchased a Polaris side by side and ive been amazed at how much i like it. My first problem is that I got to drive my dads rzr s, and now i'm not so impressed with the Ranger, so basically my wife has a ranger now. (J/K) I would like to know if anyone has done or has any ideas on a few things... 1. Clutch kit? is it worth it, will it help accelleration if so what kind 2. Slip on pipe? I heard about a Quiet pipe by DCM, is it worth the money, are there good ones that are not obnoxious? 3. Ignition Box? are they more headache than they are worth? I would basically just like a bit better throttle response and accelleration, any power gains would be good too. Thanks for your help
Richard Cheese
i would recommend going to the prc forum http://www.prcforum.com/ how much do you ride sand? how much are you on the hardpack? how much do you use it, if at all, for chores around the house? the answers to these questions play a crucial role in what upgrades to get. In the sand, the clutch kit will not give you a higher top speed......your top speed will actually go down if you gear it for the sand...what you do gain though is more lower end torque....dude's name is bikeman of bikeman performance, or dirty dawg racing...he has the best clutch kits for the Polaris sxs's a fuel controller wouldn't hurt either, as your machine, like mine, comes from the factory severely retarded. They run really lean....add more fuel to fatten it up a bit. this will also help your motor last longer and not run so hot. im not sure about paddles, as I havent heard anyone running paddles on a stock ranger. I run the factory rims and tires....I do just fine for a cruise through the dunes.....nothing jaw dropping though also...i highly recommend getting 4 point harnesses that bolt up directly to the mounting points of the stock seatbelts...except the submarine belt....and some leg minders to keep your legs from flying out when turning sharply. as I said...check out prc...the largest polaris sxs forum around good luck Edited May 20, 2010 by Richard Cheese
