fstrdnu
My Onan Generator developed an idle problem. When I fire it up, it runs smooth, but it speeds up and slows down constantly. I'm hoping it just needs me to pull the carb off and clean it. I let it sit too long over the summer and ran old fuel through it. Any thoughts/suggestions? fstrdnu
Too bad I had a full tank of premium that went bad, but I hope that fixes the problem. Cheaper than taking it to the dealer for something I can do myself.
dunefreak
Yea you'll probably just need to give it a good cleaning. More than likely it's the mixture control solenoid (located on the bottom of the float bowl). Those get gummed up and start doing that . You might be able to just pull it off and clean it up. goodguys75
it is looking for a load, when you run it you should have something on..........
mineurbiz
If you end up buying a carb, call Rocky Mountain Cummings, they have the cheapest prices!!! I think I paid $185.00 for a carb. I still cannot believe that they do not make rebuild kits for these.
Just Mike
I had the same problem as well. I got sick of trying to clean and just put a new carb on. Thanks for that advice Brice. I wish I would have just put the new carb on in the first place instead of fighting with it.
lindernglamis
Same problem. I tried cleaning the carb out several times. The gen started to run better, but not anywhere near what it was suppose to be. Ended up just buying a new carb.
