Teryx Duner
Whats everyone running on their side by sides? I'm interested in upgrading my stock filter on my '10 Teryx. I'm gonna go with a billet adapter but can't decide between a gauze (K&N, or Dasa style) or foam (UNI) filter. I have ran a K&N on my raptor for years with no problems, but recently i have read a lot of things about how much better the foam filters are. Especially in the sandy and dusty area's like Dumont. Some people also say that if gauze filters are better then why do all manufacturers put foam filters on quads and side by sides. Also performance wise are they about the same? Thank you for your opinions and advice.
BLUE STEEL
We have been running an UNI in our RZR for the last 3 years with no problems.
sandawg
I have been running K&N with outterwear in my Rhino and my VW rail for years and no problems. I have heard that it is better to run foam w/foam oil at Coral Pink because it is a finer dust there. I can't confirm that but that is what I do to be safe at coral. dunefreak
Foam is always better, but a K&N with an outerwear works good too.
PetesZ400
I just got the UNI filter with billet adapter from Long Travel Industries. It is much better than stock.
ltr450rider
K & N with outerwear. 3 years now, no problems. I think it's whatever YOU think is best!
Adam @ GTP Off Road
The big issue with any of these is the oil. If you don't have the filter oil right, that will cause the main issues. Too little, sand, too much sucking in oil (at least at first). I am still using stock filters, once these wear out i think i will go to Uni. I don't trust the K&N personally. I also don't think there is much power to be gained. .5HP isn't going to make any difference.
raspadoo
I run the UNI on all of my toys (other than buggy) and all have the air box lid removed and replaced with ones that have outerware material built into it.
Teryx Duner
Thank you for the advice. I'm kinda leaning toward the dasa racing filter right now (Its an 8 layer gauze filter) but I may get the uni. Has anyone tried the dasa or fuelatv air filter?
