Hualapai Mountain Park

I went on a little minication this weekend. Get out of the city! So I headed up for camping and hiking at Hualapai Mountain Park out of Kingman, AZ. They have some ATV trails, so this was another reason for my choice, check out a new area for future dirt riding. 133 miles from my door to my campsite. It was a nice easy route 93 straight through to Kingman, then up route 66, to Hualapai Mountain Rd.

Now I thought it was pretty steep, the road signs do say curving mountain upgrade. And there were plenty of haulers but there. But I don't pull the hauler, so I think we will make a day trip out of it sometime in August, so Mike can see for himself, before setting out with the hauler!

It was a great weekend, and what an adventure!

That is my short version of my weekend.

But here are some pics of my minication escape from the city.

That is some great country. Haven't been there for many years but do remember how nice it is. Great photos of the wildlife too. Damn near tame deer huh? Glad you are enjoying your summer Jodi. I might take the Rhino up there in the near future.........

Thank you. Yes it was a relaxing, peacful trip. The hike up the mountain was a little harder then expected. Yeah the elk didn't seem to care at all that I was there or the dogs. The pic of the one laying down, was the one wandering through my camp and just decided to hang out with us.

So its good riding up there then?

The trailhead I know was 6,200 feet in elevation, the peak I hiked to was 7,950. So the campground it self if probably about 6,000 or so. The temp during the weekend I was there high 80's low 63. Pretty perfect. It was a really great place to relax and hike, so the offroad trails should be good to. :)

The last couple of pics show the new ATV RV Park. Accomidates up to 40ft, I know their website says only 25 ft, that is the "small rv park"

When I made my original plans, I had some questions, so I called, that was one of the questions that I asked about. It is just not on their site, you have to call them or send them an email with questions. They are super nice at the office, especially Mary, she was very helpful and also made sure that the ranger stopped by my camp a couple of times, since I was there alone.

There were people riding/driving all around camp, so there shouldn't be any problems with that.

I did not bring my quad on this trip. We are headed back up for a day trip in Aug and will know more about the offroading area then. On this trip I was scouting out the area camping and hiking only to see what it was like.
