sand chick
What a GREAT weekend! We were overdue for a fun Dumont trip and not a work Dumont trip! Great weather, some thought it was a little warm, but I quite enjoyed having it a bit warm, we didn't even run our A/C, but then again, we were out in the dunes playing most of the daylight hours. I got there Saturday mid morning. Unload, riding gear on, LETS DUNE!!!!! Sorry we had our own little fire pit, my dog Shasta gets a little around the campfire chasing the sparks and since I didn't know that many in camp, I didn't want to irritate anyone with her antics. The full moon made for a great night ride. The wild flowers were spectacular. I doubt we will make another trip out, unless we get some kind of cold spell, so this was a perfect season ender! dunefreak
Just got home and unloaded. It was quite a weekend. The dunes were near-perfect and the warm weather was great. It got a bit windy Saturday which was a little annoying but sometimes it died down and in the dunes it wasn't bad. The warm temps were a nice change from the cold dune weekends. When you were moving or sitting in the shade it felt really nice. The dunes were smooth but our super fast runs claimed a few cars. Randog tried getting out of Krusty's roost at Talladega and clipped a sand mount/ bush at around 70 mph shearing a lower control arm. Then on Saturday's sunset run JVZ managed to almost land dart or cartwheel his car off a steep razor, but instead saved it and the right front suspension literally folded under his car. Crazy stuff! Then I guess NE14SAND lost a stub axle and did some damage to his car in the meantime. Carnage! ynot had a couple issues still and he won the die-hard award for leaving Friday AM, driving all the way to CBM for repairs and then making it back to the campfire in time for Apple Pie. Really sucks for those guys who had repairs, but I am very happy to say my car did amazing. After all my recent weird issues all stemming from one stupid head gasket leaking under boost, I was extremely stoked that the car ran strong all weekend without any problems. We got some killer runs in and managed to hook up with just about everyone that I hoped to. Great seeing you and duning together, Jmanx! We had a great camp and I was happy to see everyone. Saturday night we all huddled around JVZ's outside TV and fire and watched supercross. That was a good time. Nothing better than dunes and SX! The cleanup was a success for the most part. It was pretty much canceled then BLM did nothing to announce it or put any word out until the last minute. Maybe next year they'll be grateful for Friends of Dumont Dunes and the crowd they bring out. I saw quite a few people out and about Saturday morning doing their part and that was nice. Those are die hard, dedicated duners right there. Not doing it for a prize or reward...just out doing it for their dunes. We picked up a few things in the dunes while out on a quad ride, but then went back to camp for the buggy and dragged a nasty old couch over to the dumpster. That was fun especially the donut/ victory lap at the end. haha It's always a little sad to see the season end, but it's bitter sweet. I'm anxious to get out and do my dual sport adventure rides, mountain biking and hit the lake. There's always our summer morning quad runs too that give us that quick fix during the off season months. Pics to come soon...

Jmanx
Great weekend! Pete, thanks for the invite. I had a blast on the run I jumped in on. Nice to finally meet some of the members here. You guys definitely know how to run the dunes. I put nearly 90miles worth of duning, jumping, and wheeling on the buggy with not one issue. Happy about that. My boys broke both their quads AND Momas quad, but better the quads than the buggy! Baby Jake (11 months) had his first trip to the North Pole (VERY slow roll). Guess it's time to now punish the desert, and hit the dunes again in October.
THE BOMB
Had a great time...first run out I had my tires waaay over pressured and the car was handling very poorly...and 15 months between runs does not help my driving skills. Saturday I got the tire psi dialed in and what a difference. I starting to get the feel for the car and how it handles. Someday I'll be able to keep up with those lightweight Subbies! Even did some surfing with my rail. Thanks to Bert for those newbie runs he lead on...which really got me used to the way my car handles. The night run was awesome...gonna get some more LED's. I finnaly got to run with Flyin Ryan...2 V8Rails...following him I noticed that our front engine cars have some of the same handling characteristics, Thanks to Pete for the invite and everyone who welcomed us to camp. The car ran flawlessly and no breakage. Looking forward to running with you guys this fall, or maybe a trip to Pismo.
dunefreak
I'll start with some pics from "the cleanup" We found a nasty old couch sitting at the north end of the camp area. So we decided to hook up to it with the buggy and drag it over to the dumpster.

dunefreak
Out on a buggy run and chillen at Talladega @@702sandman found us and joined in JVZ managed to do this when cresting a very large razor, but luckily he saved it from going over. So we turned his car into a tripod and he duned it all the way back to camp on 3 wheels. Sunday morning Bud (quadrockets) arrived in his new Tatum Black Widow. We went for a nice, long ride and stopped at comp afterwards. camp Sunset ride
