sand chick
We had not been back to Little Sahara in 7 years. My first experience there wasn't the best, but I am so happy we finally made a return trip.. because this weekend was EPIC! No other words can describe it other then EPIC! The group we camped with, I had never met before. And being a newcomer in many a different camp, I have to admit, I was nervous about feeling left out, not being part of the "inside stories", being ignored at the campfire and looked at like an outsider, as I have many times camping with new groups. These guys were awesome! They welcomed us in like we had always camped with them. And those guys know how to have fun in the dunes and at the campfire! I haven't laughed that hard in a long time! We fully appreciated the hospitality that they showed us. This trip would not have been the same without that awesome group of people. Each and everyone of them. We finally made it to the backside of the dunes!! And they were freaking incredible! The statement of the weekend was "There is so much sand here" The Ace did really good, even made it into some of the big stuff in the back and halfway up the big hill going back over to the front side, thankfully there was a halfway cut off I could go over, but had to be careful to crawl over some sharp rocks at the top. Having local's to show you around the dunes, priceless... going out on your own and finding something none of them had seen, even more priceless... and THAT shows you just how huge this place is. 5 days and we still did not see it all! Mike's new H-Town Long Travel Kit was amazing! The guys wanted to go on a fast as he!! run through the big dunes on the backside, knowing I wouldn't be able to keep up or get up some of those big steep dunes, I dropped a Dramamine and a couple shots of Mike's smooth apple pie moonshine and went ahead, sucked it up and rode in the shotgun seat for day 2 sunset run. That long travel made such a difference, I felt comfortable enough I went out with him the next day too. It sucked up the jumps so nice and made the transitions smooth. Campfire antics included all of those things and more! Dance off's with bad a$$ girls who know how to dance, Oatmeal Cookie Shots, the best homemade Apple Pie Moonshine I have ever had and lap dances! Great conversations and tons of laughs! Incredible sunsets, gorgeous fields of wildflowers, spectacular back drops, deer crossing your path, red tail hawks taking flight, dunes, dunes and more dunes, stormy weather all around made for some bomb a$$ photos. We ran out of the dunes being chased by several differant thunder storms , but surprisingly it only rained in camp twice, for short periods of time making the weather damn near perfect. As I previously stated, all of the above, made this an EPIC weekend! Pics to follow...
