04toy
The blasting is scheduled to run from 9/24/2018(today) through 10/15/2018. The actual blasting will be done on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; from aprox. 12:30pm to 2:30pm, during which time the road will be closed. Pahrump Valley Times article. The whole project to widen the roadway to 4 lanes with a hard divider and resurface the road is going to take aprox. 2 years. Edited October 2, 2018 by 04toy Project ending date was wrong, had 2015 instead of 2018 1

dunefreak
So to clarify...this is Mt Potisi, not Mtn Pass. Mt Pass is the hill after Primm.
IrnBear
Yes, sorry for that I didn't know there was an official Mtn Pass😝 The intense road work is on the 160 headed to Pahrump at Mt Potosi I know I was corrected with my initial post I was intentionally vague due to past experience with the road work and closures..... Anyway, it is still a good drive as long as it is not closed IrnBear

dunefreak
Quote Blasting on State Route 160 east of Mt. Potosi will resume Wednesday, Oct. 24. The road will close at 12:45 p.m. Please expect delays up to two hours and plan your trips accordingly. They will not know the completion time until they are done with the blasting. They are recommending that you plan for a 2 hour closure. 1 @vegas style got caught in it this afternoon. It's hard to say which days they'll be blasting but they say every other day. So maybe Friday afternoon will be the next day. ? Just avoid it from 12:30-2:30 PM and you should be good.
Legs
My bosses live up there and they said they are closing the road every other day(so friday the 26th will be next) from 1245 til 245.

ChevyTraitor
So, if every other day, should we expect it to be closed Sunday, 10/28, from 12:45-2:45pm? Thanks!!

Hard to say but I would prepare for it just in case. Also, I heard it's down to one lane both directions at all times so even when they aren't blasting it gets pretty backed up at times.
04toy
From what I've heard there will be no more blasting/road closures until some time next month, November. The road is down to one lane both ways at the top and the speed limit is down to 45. There are some rumble strips on the road to remind you to slow down. They have done a great job of posting the date on the blinking light signs and the over the highway amber alert sign, both sides of mountain. They blast a day, then they change the date to whatever the next blast date is As of this morning New blast date 10/31 1245 IrnBear
