Svengoolie
Went to Dumont with my old Jeep to check on the cell tower. The tower is up but isn't hooked up. Not even the red light on top.
Svengoolie
And while I was there of course I had to check on other stuff. On the way to comp bill, that spot where people always get stuck, there's a dune there. It goes all the way across. It's about 4 or 5 ft high. Now people will really get stuck there! Svengoolie
It was about 110 degrees and breezy. There was tower stuff by the ranger station.
Svengoolie
Of course gotta check out comp bill. Note the ripples at the top and how steep the left side is now. Steeper than it was.
Svengoolie
On to the North Pole
Svengoolie
We always like to sit on top of a small dune near the North Pole. The dune has switched around, the back side was the smooth side. It's steep now. Exactly opposite of the way it used to be. Everybody used to sit up here and use their phone. The solar light is still working!
Svengoolie
It started getting really windy, time to go. On our way out, saw a camper. I checked to make sure they weren't stuck. They were okay. By thier accent, I think they were European. Also a truck showed up with more tower stuff.
Svengoolie
But the road and the wind was blowing pretty good. The road was mostly deserted. Only passed one car on the way back to Pahrump. The pics looked blurry with all the sand blowing around. I have that familiar sand in the ears and hair. No top or doors on the Jeep. The road is washboarded the whole way right now. See you soon!
chris1223
Yea, they got a ways to go..... Im guessing on the way things "usually work" they are going to ramp back up after the time that they can spend more time on the tower per hour due to temps..... dunefreak
The tower isn't scheduled to be operational until fall when all the carriers install their equipment. I love seeing the shifting dunes. Thanks for sharing the pics!
