antman1955
Is California shutting this pile of sand down? I have been going there now for 34 years and this will be the first of such disasters! Any news? I want to try out this new and improved sand rail before I paint it............... Thanks!!!! dunefreak
Why would they shut it down? There has been no talk of doing that unless social distancing isn't respected. But Dumont is huge and there is plenty of space to spread out. BLM has not mentioned anything to us about it getting closed.
Sandemon
Dumont is one of the specifically named OFF HIGHWAY RECREATION AREAS it will now take an act of Congress to shut it down, not just one Judges signature like happened in Glamis. Not to say it can not happen, but it is much harder with this protection.
dirtflickarooster
Am I the only one that it seemed like there was a crazy amount of carnage over thanksgiving weekend? Our camp had a few issues, but it seemed like the medical team and helicopter were constantly on the move this weekend? When I spoke to one of the guys at the ranger station on Friday he even commented that the incidents were already far more than Halloween weekend where the population was much more than double. joblo
My brother was out there and said the same thing about the carnage. He said the helicopter must have never shut down. As soon as it left it returned for somebody else.
fishlips
All the wind. Most people don't know how to read the dunes unless they have tracks to follow.
