Fast Machine
I am a social smoker, but I am not bothered by the new laws. I think smoking is offensive, and people that do not smoke should not have to endure it just because they want to go out and have some fun, too. I bartended in California and everybody just got used to the fact that you had to go outside to smoke. BFD. Some places in Cali were lenient and would still allow indoor smoking. Needless to say, they would become smoker hangouts. I have a feeling that will be the case in a lot of places here.

dreamrr
You cannot compare California and Nevada on this matter. Bar owners in Nevada are in it for the gaming. They don't care much about the people who occationally come in and drink. They want the people who come to gamble. That's how they make money. California businesses still servive because there is no gaming. Round numbers, but about 50% of our customers are smokers and most of the gamers sit, smoke, drink and gamble all day and all night. Even if you put a lounge in, bars will lose the gaming business to casinos'.
Richard Cheese
but you also have the CHOICE to sit at the other side of the bar table room or whatever where the smokers arent... you chose to sat w/ or next to me.. first off ISBB, im not unloading on you. I respect you and what you do, so im not blasting you. now, down to bidness i should be able to go anywhere I want, with the exception of a designated smokers area, and not be forced to breathe 2nd hand cigarette smoke. that is my right, right??? even If i am across the room from you, and you lit up, i bet I would smell it. my parents smoked while I was growing up. I was called out of class one day in the 5th grade by the principal, because he thought I was smoking.....come to find out, my mother, god rest her soul, would smoke when she put our clothes away, blowing smoke into our closets...that is when I woke up about it. Richard Cheese
Sitting on the other side of the bar where smokers are doesn't rid you of second hand smoke or the nasty a$$ smell your clothes become drenched in. that is why they are called a$$ TRAYS!!! AND IF YOU guys are out there superbowl weekend, ISBB, dunefreak, and I will have a coldie or 12, while ISBB smokes DOWNWIND (SO HE CAN SMELL MY FARTS ) j/k ISBB Edited November 10, 2006 by RICHARDCHEESE

Even if you put a lounge in, bars will lose the gaming business to casinos'. Nice opinion, here's mine; I don't smoke but used to. I like to gamble but quit because someone allways sets next to me with their cig setting in the ash tray burnning the cotton of the old butt with the smoke going straigt for my eyes i think that if they banned smok'n in any public building it would be great, If there is so many smokers how come you can allways get a table in the smok,n section but have to wait 30 min. for no-smok'n I had to meet a guy for lunch in a pub, was there for about 30 min, half way thru eating at the bar this guy sets next to me and lights up, pulls out his cell phone and starts talk'n, leaves the cig setting in the ash try and the smoke is killing me. finally I said " excuse me, could you put that out?" he got all pissed and tells me that he was in a smok'n section and about his rights well, 6 hours later after being only in the bar for 30 min. I get home, the first thing my wife said to me when she gave me a hug was " you been to the titty bar all day you smell like smoke" when I told her what happened she said, "Take a shower and change clothes before you stink up the house" so I guess i'm one that would go gamble at the bar if it weren't all the smokers!!! :smoker:
MAXDOUT
this is a little off subject, but here goes........ i build houses for kb homes. they are so by the book and worried about client-tell etc. etc. everyone on the job is schooled on, job cleanliness, professionalism etc. they actually write PO'S for un-cleanliness. but i have to say all the superintedants that smoke do nothing more than throw there cig butts out in front of the trailer......... i have to say that in all my years smokers have to be the most in-considerate-selfish-ignorant people out there. i wish they would ban cigs, period. how does someone preach on cleanliness, and have the balls to throw there cig-butt out????????????????????????????????? man up people who smoke.-----get over it. daknuckler
Like I said already the bars are not going to go out of business :no_no: . People are not going to drive to the strip as opposed to the corner bar to gamble now cause they cant smoke. They are going to gamble take a break and smoke then continue to put all they're hard earned money back into the machine just like they always do, SH*t this may even save some people some money . IT is just going to take time to adjust, then all the bar owners will quit crying and figure out a way to make it work. Smoke out side, Your sh*t stinks and Its time smokers get what they have coming to them for being so DAMN selfish and inconciderate all these years . If the bars choose to take away the food like some of you said so what "they dont make any money on the food anyway" right. At least then us non smokers can go to a public place, whether it be a resturant or a bar with food and not have to gasp for clean air. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY MY CHILDREN AND EVERYONE ELSES CHILDREN DONT HAVE TO BREATH THE SECOND HAND POISON THAT CAUSES DAMAGE TO THEY'RE LUNGS AND INCREASES CHILDHOOD ASTHMA AND OTHER RESPIRATORY DISEASES. If someone sat next to your kids and splashed AIDS infected blood on them I dont think anyone would agree that that is someones right, so what gives you the right to blow smoke in the air they breath????? YOU DONT HAVE THAT RIGHT!!!!! :no_no:

lvnalolife
Thats what i was gong to say. Cig butts are all over the damn dunes. Yeah you should have seen how many I collected by comp on the Clean-Up weekend. Pathetic! Smokers don't think that is littering I guess. I once asked my friend why he threw his butts out the window and he said he didn't want to stink up his car by having them in his ash tray. Now that was an ignorant answer! TbonesMalones
The smoke in the bars isn't going away, the food is. Most little bars will do away with the food portion of the business because it's a hassle (staffing, food cost, health dept, zero profit, etc.) So I would suspect they would cater to the smokers. Bars like PT's and Roadrunner and BBW and a few others that actually have good food will probably do away with the smoking because they have the bars set up with lots of restaurant space, and probably make a small profit on the food.
