OGP
i dunno guys the more i see the more i dont trust half of the buggies being biult out there. We al know you play with turbos and blowers your playing with high heat and an early demise of your motor. pound 4 pound the ls1s northstars and sb chevys are the best bang for buck stock .in my opinion id be more worried about the biulding of the frames dam that yellow car that wasnt right 4 rolls and its destroyd !! that thing is scrap. ive seen pics of funcos broke in half on the dune buggy . com sight. i would be more worried about a decent chassi then the motor . by the time you turbo charge a subaru to make its power that a stock ls1 makes and still wont make the tourqe. and its more suseptable to breakage than the stock one but rk i would say get a decent frame lightweight small motor isnt what its cracked up to be strong frame heavier car and use tourqe from a v8 jusy my 2 cents as a L.T. owner ex turbo owner and a blower owner at present. Ummmmmmmmmmm nope!!!! Stock ls1 boat anchor!!!!!! Turbo charge a subaru, honda ,over even a nissan and SPANK the LS1 cars. And if you dont think so...... Im willing to prove it to you!!!! OGP
extreme sand cars biuld a nice car. the front end on the eyeballs is very similar. somthing alan at extreme isnt real happy about. However there a good car. eyeball has biult several lightbars for a few of the extreme cars so i have met a few of them being freinds with chris from eyeball. And they hang out at the eyeball camp alot . and i asked them questions because i almost bought an extreme car myself ( i didnt have your paetience lol ) eyeball could biuld mine quicker the way you biuid it is your bussiness but i think your picking a solid frame anywase p.s. get bypasses on all 4 corners what ever you do the ride is diffrent like day and night, one trip down sand hiway will convince you Dont waste your money on bypasses on all four corners. My car handles, jumps, runs the whoops bitchin and it only has bypasses on the rear. You really dont need bypasses on the front unless you are beating the hell out of a heavy car. dunefreak
thanks ed!! buyers remorse will set in soon... No it won't, Kenny. Not after your first drive out in the car through the dunes. You will have a smile from ear to ear...trust me. Everyone does after their first time out in their new car. I was freakin giddy my first time! We have sandrails(a light car that drives fast in the dunes) not pre-runners or desert cars. As far as the by-passes go, I would say you need them on a heavier car, but they are a nicety to have on a lighter car. FlyinRyan's car has this combo and it works awesome. the turbo 400 and the powerglide are not transaxels were talking about lt cars in a stadered type form also the turbo 400 gets iffy over 1000 hp and if they made a transaxel to hold there are 1500 + hp cars out there mine will go 1100 hp but completely unduneable im pretty sure and that where they need to be to balance the hp to weight ratio to battle a subie myself i need a wheely bar and 35s to battle the outback subie but as soon as i bolted that wheeley bar and 35s on my tranny would grenade almost instantly and i have a sequential but there onl good for about 600 rwhp if your carefull Edited December 5, 2006 by barefoot bob

painterjoe
For the money you can't beat the LS motors. Yea, a same horsepower rated suby will pull on a same horsepower rated LS motor (from expierience and not by much) but It'll cost you a hell of alot more to do it. As far as the by-passes, Big jumps and whoops..... a must, for the dunes..... not really a nessicity.
EY3BA11
Well here is the most duneable 1000+ hp car I have ever seen. Turbo 400 trans too. ya but didnt he smoke that 400 w/ those 37" monsters? or was that a combination of the 1300+ NEW hp w/ completely rebuilt bottom and top end and the boost turned up on that big block

So basically it was a stock turbo 400 holding up to 1000 hp. I know this probably sounds like to some, but it really is true. That car has some real hp, not Glamis hp.
