Ross and Alice
Got all kinds of freebies in the mail from the "new" Southpoint Hotel. It's changed hands and is owned by the guy that owns the El Cortez. The El Cortez was fun at times with it's 50 cent craps, free rooms to non regulars, $1.00 black jack, easy free drinks, the gravely voiced old ladies in the cocktail dresses calling ya sugar,,, still OK but the seedyness displaces the tighter rules. He also owns the Las Vegas Club on Fremont street that is my favorite card place. What did the South Point used to be?? The South Coast? Did it go boobs up? What happened or no bfd just an ownership change. :freakin_nuts:

trqjnky
isbb, what are you talking about??? you have not the slightest clue! i used to work for the gaughans on thier nascar craftsman truck team so i keep in touch with brendan gaughan (micheal gaughan, former high up of boyd gamings son) anyways... micheal gaughan sr (there is a junior) was a top guy in of boyd gaming. had 51% ownage of all coast properties (gold coast, south coast, suncoast, orleans, etc etc) recently he sold ALL of his properties to boyd gaming except for the south coast. and stepped down from being ceo. of boyd gaming. Since he now has no involvement with any of the coast casino's, he changed the name to the SOUTH POINT. now he is the sole owner of the south point, has a few BILLION, thats right, billion $$dollars$$ sitting in his bank account from selling the coast casinos, and now only owns the south point and the older casino's downtown that hes owned forever. b.t.w.- southpoint is busy as hell, all the cowboys stay there for rodeos that are in town, because mr gaughan is very involed in rodeos (he breeds horses and bulls for use on the circuit), place is always packed, and the rooms are dam nice, 36" plasma flatscreens in every room and whatnot. Some body is confused :freakin_nuts: Let me get you guys straight. Mike Gaughn is NOT the CEO for Boyd Gaming and never was. I have worked for Boyd Gaming for 22 years. William S Boyd is the CEO. Boyd had bought all the Coast Casino's, and built the South Coast last year. Mike Gaughn then bought South Coast from Boyd and renamed it to the South Point. trqjnky
i might have been wrong with the ceo part, but i know guaghan still owned the coast properties and had the south coast built, he sold all the other coast properties to boyd, but kept the southcoast and renamed it, maybe he might have had to buy out the rest of boyd gaming for sole ownership? SandBox_Kid
Since we seem to have some South Coast casino experts.....(we all start out as a spurt).......I heard that South Coast is NOT hosting anymore BITD races. Is that true?
