dunefreak
another accident at comp, saturday a buggy hit a child on a quad, from what we heard the kid died! he was just sittin there and a buggy coming down comp jumped off the take off lip and hit him... does anyone know any more about this??? I pulled out of Dumont today and stopped at the ranger station. I asked the rangers if there were any fatalities and they said NOPE- NO fatalities. That was really good to hear. EY3BA11
Remember that Guy that passed over halloween thanks to that kiddie track... Not to or anything.. As i was getting lost in the wash's at glamis i stumbled upon this camp with some "GUYS" and HIGH dollar equiptment and a kiddie track i sh*t you not 5-6' deep running the entire legth of the camp. I am kicking myself in the a$$ for not stopping and getting pictures but i sure hope those "GUYS" helped fill that big b*tch in!
Tripleshot
I pulled out of Dumont today and stopped at the ranger station. I asked the rangers if there were any fatalities and they said NOPE- NO fatalities. That was really good to hear. Thank You. I'll sleep better knowing that. I watched life flight take the rail accident person away. Glad that there is such close and good reponse at Dumont. I'm looking forward to Prez day. Gotta get swag next time. All I have this trip are good memories and some nice pictures. I know what to expect now. I did find out how to get a truck trailer and quad hauler stuck in front of vendor row. This trip will cost me a new clutch in my new dodge. I will be in 4 wheel drive BEFORE I get to vendor row next time.
dunefreak
All in all it was a fun, relaxing trip for me. I didn't get too much duning in, but that was expected. The rides I did get in were really fun though with good peeps. It was cool to meet some new DDR faces and see the familair ones too. :ahhhhh: The nightime fun at comp was great. Some good laughs were had, especially when Rhino King had a "wardrobe malfunction." He got just about butt naked and ran around with the famous pink elephant g-string on. I think he was inspired by the wacko in the bra and thong on the quad that was riding all over comp. Thanksgiving dinner: AWESOME! It was one of the best Thanksgivings I have had. We had ALOT of food and some really good peeps to sit down to dinner with. :fatdance: It was nice meeting and camping with Jeff (crawlinxj) and his family. Some bad news however...Friday afternoon crawlinxj broke his back on a quad ride. He was out with his family and wheelied down a little dune and G'd out at the bottom compressing his lower back. He went limp and also ran over his leg. It was a very scary moment for his family as he went out of consciousness for a short bit. They took him off to Barstow by ambulance and then transferred him to Colton hospital where he had surgery I think yesterday. I hope he recovers well and quickly. He was in alot of pain as of Saturday. I'll get some pics up soon.

DUNEDEMON
I gotta say it was a great weekend. Weather was great with only minor winds in the early AM and nice temps. The dunes were not bad considering the crowds. The hill was entertaining as usual and the food was outstanding. No major mishaps in our group and can't wait to get back out there and show those dunes whose boss....
EY3BA11
s unlikely , glamis is filled with those from the flats to the gecko , i hit one many years ago and landed on my a@# so hard it cost me a new pair of boxers. Im pretty sure its highly unlikely they filled it in... but these "GUYS" are vegas locals, people that have been around the forums know who im talking about. I wasnt impressed when i accidently stumbled thru their camp. At least they were curtious enough to have a sign that said not an exit taped on some cones... then again i guess i was one of those a-hole camp racers everyone b*tches about... yup racing thru at a idle in first gear damn i hate myself! Don29palms
I learned that you shouldn't ask little sh!thead kids to not wheelie by your camp. Their parents get mad and want to fight. Then a bunch of people walk up and the parents don't feel so froggy. :fatdance:

Kens Colors
Well since it is still thanksgiving weekend I will Post these pics here. I was able to ride in 3 different locations this weekend. Friday evening took a shakedown ride out in the northern mountains to test out, the quad to make sure all of my things broken from my crash a month ago were fixed (thanks sandunesaddict) had a spectacular ride at dumont that of course ended bad got my new drivebelt on and headed out west to see if I could find some of the trails I used to go riding with my truck 10 yrs ago. We found them and got to ride some really nice trails almost in town. It was great to ride in so many places in one weekend I sure love the desert!!! thats the Redrock Casino down there. Well next week we are camping and riding at Logandale if anyone wants to join!!! :fatdance: :ahhhhh:

dinicolada
No fatalities is a real good thing! Injuries I guess are to be expected, but when a weekend goes bye bye and no duners went bye bye, all is good. I wish I could have made the trip All in all, it was a GREAT weekend for our group, too! However, our no-injury trip record is now broken. :fatdance: My 2 daughters, an older gal (Judy) that camps with us, and myself (Mrs. dinicolada) were heading to vendor row about 11:00 Sat. morning. We were right at B-9 when I slowed to check traffic and I feel this thud to my quad. I look back to find Judy on the ground with her foot pinned under her dumped Kodiak; heavy son-of-gun quad. I jump off mine, run over and shut hers off and tried to free her leg. By that time 2 guys and a girl camping nearby were there and heaved that sucker up on 4 wheels. I sent #1 daughter back to camp to get her hubby and the four of us tended to Judy till the medics got there. Her foot was fine, she was complaining about her shoulder and arm. Within about 15 minutes I'd say, we had two medics on quads show up, then the rail with the backboard arrived, and 'bout the time they had her strapped to the backboard, the truck showed up to transport her to the aid station. (The truck had just finished transporting a broken femur patient). She couldn't move her arm, so it was decided they'd take her via ambulance to UMC so she could be x-rayed. The hubby (Steve) packed up and headed back to Vegas. Turns out the shoulder was dislocated, they popped it back in and sent her home. Judy would be the first to tell ya she was not paying attention! We were just puttin' thru at maybe 5-10 mph, but didn't realize we slowed to almost a stop when she hit #2 daughter's quad, jerked the "wheel" and hit mine on her way down. Luckily, nothin' was broken!! I got the chance to talk to one of the rangers and asked about the broken bones. He said there were A LOT but no fatalities!!! I said that was great and we chatted about the Halloween loss. I filled him in on the ultra lite pilot's condition (thanks to all the info posted here). He was pleased to hear he was O.K. Those medics are a great bunch of people and the rangers are pretty cool too, IF you don't piss them off!

Maldar
Had a great time out Sorry I dident get around to meeting anyone. arived Wednesday mourning set up camp then hit the dunes not long in a group of 5 of us I get cut off by a rail then the guy comes around a nearly hits me again. so we come back around from the back side and another guy comes jumps up over a dune and neirly hits me then comes close to hiting my daughter before racing off. At that time I decided to head back to camp for the rest of the day. Went out Thursday, Friday, and saturday mourning rides with no problems keep to the back side seemed less crowded.
