dunefreak Posted December 11, 2006 Share Posted December 11, 2006 If memory serves me right GPS with enough sattellites doin the reception thing will track altitude as well and i believe it has a algorithm built into the gps to figure out speed traveling vertical as well. Dont quote me though... But im pretty sure it can.. Thats why you need 3+ sattelites connected to get a decent reading.. Garmin's specifications quote 0.1mph accuracy but due to signal degredation problems noted above, perhaps 0.5mph accuracy in typical automobile applications would be what you can count on. GPS is accurate on somewhat flat ground but for all out speed I think the radar gun would be more accurate as long as it was calibrated correctly.
