I did the same thing my first time at Amargosa....the 3rd time out with the rail. Note to self:DON'T LEAVE YOUR WALLET IN YOUR BACK POCKET.....I had a nice square shaped bruise on my A$$ and cracked the engine case right where it mounts to the top of the tranny!! It's all good though....I put a tranny strap on and welded some brackets for support. FYI - I'm not convinced that the aluminum case is stronger than the magnesium....anyone know if it's supposed to be? Don29palms Posted March 28, 2006 Share Posted March 28, 2006 Magnesium was banned because of it's ability to catch on fire. They used to make wheels out of magnesium hence the name mag wheels. The problem was if you had a blow out and the rim hit the ground and made a spark it would catch on fire and the car would burn up. Magnesium is difficult to put out.
