Landsandcrab
Dumont dunes is a riding spot I've been going to for years for my dirt biking in the dunes fix. Over the years, I migrated from going with a dual sport/street legal group and riding 100-200 miles on street & dirt to Death Valley/Furnace Creek area to Titus Canyon/Ryolite in Nevada, to camping and exploring solo. BAD IDEA I know, but damn I saw so many amazing places and loved it...all with zero cell range 😦 to going with a larger group of folks who just ride the sand. We just did an amazing trip last Wednesday -Saturday after a 2 year hiatus that almost never happened due to Hwy 127 (you have to take this hwy north from Baker off the 15 to get to Dumont, or you end up having to go on a 3 hour detour around the closure) being washed out back in late August. LUCKILY...the news got out in time that the hwy would open up with delays/pilot vehicle escorts on Dec 4....two days before we were set to arrive! It's ON!! The wait was a solid 45 minutes, but it was ok. It's crazy how bad the damage was, the work that is being done is very extensive/expensive. After finally getting to the dunes, we had an absolute blast riding, exploring new areas, enjoying awesome sunsets, great camping food and meeting new friends over at Pete Greeps camp. They even sold us some wood since the guy who was supposed to bring most of the groups wood got sick last minute. Thanks Pete and Ana, y'all rule!! Also, a little known fact amongst dune riders/campers at Dumont is there is a small....like REALLY small town called Tecopa nearby, only 20 minutes up the road, that features hot springs that you can pay to go in, or a free hot pond, and plenty of RV camping/hookups. But this time I wanted to show the group the new restaurant that popped up called "The Kit Fox Cafe", which just happens to be next door to "Death Valley Brewing Co". Indeed these are both total GEMS!! In the middle of nowhere, serving up some of the best brews I've had a minute, plus really great selections of food from wood fired pizzas to vegan options. Highly recommend if you are in that area. It was so great we went back the next day also! The dunes can be a dangerous place, especially for dirt bikes...we are the lowest on the food chain out there ☠️ ....but we rode cautiously (mostly) and only had a few tip overs, get offs, and no one stuffed it into any witches eyes (those spots between dunes and can really mess up your day/machine/body! We got many miles in and many more smiles, it really is a dream to be brapping around huge flowy dunes with no tracks, it's like an untracked powder day at your favorite ski resort ❤️ Basically we can't wait to go back!! Hope you enjoy the videos and pics!

Hope to chill and ride with y'all in March. Thanks again Pete for putting on this great events/updates/community.
