the*ovenman
YFZ 450 Stock Air Filter So In my service manual it says after you clean the filter to coat it with engine oil, is that just any old engine oil or is there a specific type. Also it say to put Lithium soap based grease on the mating surface to help seal it. What is that and where can I get it besides the dealer cause I am sure they will charge an arm and a leg. DIRTY DYKSTRA
to clean a stock filter... 1. remove filter from bike. 2. inspect intake duct for dirt. 3. throw stock filter in trash. 4. take K&N out of box and install in bike. 5. add filter sock. 6. remove air box lid and silencer. and yes you can get lithium grease at the auto parts store they useally call it white lube... mineurbiz
Go buy foam filter cleaner and oil from a dealership, or if you have the money do go buy a K&N.
the*ovenman
I was told if I get a K&N I would have to change the jetting? Is that true?

Duneraider
Get rid of that stock filter. You will wish you did. Yamaha weak point. Only takes a little sand to grenade the motor. The K&N kit is easy & fun to install, and not all that much money. Alba, Rocky mountain a few other places sell them.
