dunefreak
Good question, I have no answer for it right now. Apparently the one person who pitched the biatch no longer wants to talk to us(duners) so we will wait to see what happens as we go along. I believe she and the other complaintants may be invited to a TRT meeting in August. Is this the lady at the bed & breakfast place you spoke with that one day? Why doesn't she want to talk to us (the duners) anymore? Did she give up?

Did she give up? Yes it's the same lady. She wanted me to drive out there for another meeting andf I told her that I wasn't seeing a need to meet one on one with her as she deceived us by stating that the 1st conversation was on a personal basis not as a rep for her organization as she had initally advised. I think her members didn't like what they heard and wanted to get some consessions from us and BLM. I told her i wanted to meet with the total group not just 1 person who changes her status at will. She actually owns that one to which your speaking of and is completely renovating it. It was once a Hostel and was a pit. She has done a lot of work on it and although not a 5 star hotel I would say if you were a greenie who was used to sleeping in those kind of places you would be happy. She also owns the B&B at the China Date ranch and although it also is not a 5 star it is very nice, quiet and has a great view of the date palms and the hills behind it. It is booked all the way thru next year at $149.00 per night not including meals. She gets a lot of hikers, greenies etc. who like the peace and quiet of a remote setting. She is a nice person but she doesn't want to accept the fact that her county is screwing them over and wants to blame the duners for the cause of their problems, I.E. trash, noise illegal riding and dumping. Some of these may be from us but I can tell you that most of the problems from off road use come from users OTHER than Dumont people. No body goes thru the desert on paddle tires and nobody unloads their bikes to ride in the mud flats while waiting to dump out at the county park. She just is looking for an easy place to lay the blame and she along with the other townspeople will need some education and gentle treatment. The people who do the things that she complains about just make it harder on all of the rest of us as usual.
NicoleinVegas
Didn't there used to be a little restaurant or something in Tecopa? I think it would be a great place for a little conv. store with ice and stuff, but I know that would never happen.
BigBoreVegas
I always drive through tecopa, i go the speed limit and never dump anything ( i dont have a trailer lol) I drive the roads before and after tecopa due to lack of people.

YEA there used to be kats kafe and a little store, used to be open only during dune season. the would of stayed open if the would've started selling beer and smokes, the got offended when i asked them why no smokes!!! tecopa is populated by america's most wanted in my opinion!! EY3BA11
if it was populated by america's most wanted we wouldnt have this problem.. There would be a gun store on every corner liquor stores in between, hookers and blow across the street from the school and no grouchy old woman tellin us to get outta town. BigBoreVegas
That route is quick and easy, only drove the baker route once and it seems to take forever, maybe cause there is nothing to damn lookat on the freeway.
predu
i wouldn't mind the route thru pahrump i just have no clue where to turn off i have only been to pahrump once if anyone has a map or street names that would be great
ynot
Turn left at the light towards Shoshone. Terribles casino on the right and a Bank of America and McDonalds are on the left. Get to Shoshone and turn Left to Dumont

mineurbiz
Going through Pahrump is so much smoother, no dips or switch backs or very narrow roads.

I always seem to have rocks thrown at me by someone infront of me or dust the person behind me.
wingnut
I like watching my trailer get air when I go throught the wooptie/S turn section!!!! :freakin_nuts: Edited July 13, 2007 by wingnut
nlvredneck
that f'in goat trail tecopa road sucks going on to the shoshone turn-off is alot better and easier on vehicles/motorhomes but going threw baker is the most relaxed and is better if bad luck happens due to people and chp take your pic
Just Mike
I have only traveled the Tecopa road a few times and I don't miss it all. I also live in the northwest and love the rout going through Indian springs.
superdave
I used to always take the other way thru pahrump before I met DDR. The road is definately alot smoother. I think I started going the other way cause it was a bit shorter. Im always anxious to get there. I also like to dump my tanks in tecopa, at the designated dump station. But I do believe there is also one in Pahrump I could use, just have to find it. Used to fill up water in pahrump when I used to go that way. Alot lighter load going over potasi, which ALWAYS kills my truck. But I for one, would not mind going thru pahrump on a regular basis if its going to mean less peeps giving us a hard time about dumont and less of a fight. saddle west has a dump station. right on the 160. i think it only cost 5 bucks if i remember right.
