Howie
The people camped by us last year went and bought some from pahrump and got stoped as soon as they crossed the boarder. The highway patrol pulled them over and asked them where the fireworks were. I think the firework place called and told the chp. The guy got nailed he spend 500.00 on fireworks and got a 1000.00 ticket and got a ticket for a window tint. Watch out new years is coming i am sure there going to be watching closly. That's no good! Was that during Thanksgiving weekend or near 4th of july?? hmmmmm....This topic has been bringing up mixed responses???? I'm debating back and forth. As to the rangers enjoying them too, I see that every summer in Pismo Beach, it's like every other camp out there shoots them off with no problems. I'm sure that the CHP saw them drive by, going into Pahrump, then an hour later saw them driving back; right past the officer again. Probably figured that they went for the fireworks. I'll be sure to spend time at one of the casinos and the wal-mart out there before driving back
rpost215
In Gordons Well the sheriff's sit back and enjoy the light show, unless someone is endangering themself or others. we all enjoy it and I like watching others do it, its easier on my wallet!! And as to the dogs coming to sniff out the fireworks. If your kept at the side of the road for an unusually long length of time that is construed as an arrest. Atleast for us it is. If they can't base anything to get into your ride then they have to cut you loose. But if the dog is 10 minutes out then your screwed!! Even in the case of a dog, probable cause is still required to initiate a search. Routine traffic stops do not constitute probable cause for search and even with a dog, there must be reasonable suspicion of an illegal act or crime. None the less, the point is to never give consent. Whether you have or do not have anything to hide, make them jump through the hoops necessary to catch you. It is your 4th amendment right. Amendment IV The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
