Mr. Edgy
That span has been labeled "structually deficient" for 17 years. I would think fixing our own infrastructure would be a whole hell of a lot more important than fixing Iraqs.....IMO
Richard Cheese
what a horrible situation i hope there is an investigation into why it was allowed to happen.
lvnalolife
It said on msnbc.com that the bridge got a poor rating on a safety inspection 2 years ago. Why was it still in use? Granted they said it was being worked on. I wonder if that is what led to its fatal destruction.
dunefreak
They also said questioned that bridge's design back in the SIXTIES because it's lack of supports.
Mr. Edgy
They also said questioned that bridge's design back in the SIXTIES because it's lack of supports. It was a non-redundant design...meaning if one thing goes wrong the whole structure would come down. They do not use non-redundant design anymore. Also, last year was the first time in noted history that this country spent more $'s on retrofit and rebuild than on new construction.
