lvnalolife
Can anyone recommend a good place to swap out my tires on my buggy rims. I bought front and rear STU tires at the sand show. The thing is I have front and rear beadlockers and have never had to have them dismounted or mounted before. Is it possible to do yourself or easier to just pay someone? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, J.J.
Randog
JJ, I suggest taking one bead lock off just to evaluate the job. It won't cost more if you decide to take it to a shop. The beadlock side of the rim is not tough to do. It just takes time and a 12 point socket. I like to put the socket on the end of a makita to help speed things up. Just make sure you tighten them like you would wheels or valve covers. I use a 12 point wrench for final torquing. The seated inner bead side may be tough to get off the bead.?? Popping it ON is no prob with compressed air. Here is what I did: -Removed the valves. -Had a friend pop the inner beads with his tire machine. -Romove the beadlocks. -Tire comes right off. -New tire on. -Install bead locks -Inflate to seat inner bead. -Air down to desired pressure. - R-

What torque do the beadlock bolts get torqued to? By the way thanks Randy!
Randog
So if I took them to Discount tire and just had them pop the rear bead I should be good then? What torque do the beadlock bolts get torqued to? By the way thanks Randy! Yep I think you'll be just fine. No prob mang. Torque? My rule of thumb is: Tighten it till it's stripped then back it off 1/2 turn. That's the spot you should have stopped at. The perfect torque. Yiah Yiah Well I actually dont know what torque they say, but you will find you have to go around and around the wheel many times. As you tighten em down the others get loose. I just went by feel and stopped when they all felt snug. Remember you are clamping the tire now. We used to rely on just a bead. Clamping is WAY better. Hope that helps you out Bud. Take them to a tire shop and have them break the inner bead, Putting them on the new wheels are pretty simple if you have a compressor. When you are seating the bead on the new wheels, Make sure the valve stem is removed so you get max air in the tire to seat the bead. Torque of the beadlock bolts should be 140 in pounds. I almost thought you meant ft/lbs before I re-read it. I was like holy chit thats a lot. DEE DEE DEE. Cant wait to run the new triple razors and my new rears on the kickoff weekend. I should be able to steer! My Apex 8.80's only had one ridge and it was offset towards the inside. Kinda weird. I got the 8.50x15 Razorbacks for the front and 14.50's with the more aggresive #2 cuts for the rear.
Don29palms
140 in/lbs is not quite 12 ft/lbs. 12 ft/lbs is 144 in/lbs.

lvnalolife
are you sure? Need some richard Cheese input on the math here? lol No we don't! The thread will get hijacked! Thanks to Dos of the Tres Hermanos for the info guys. I will also check with Centerline and double check the torque numbers.
lvnalolife
Got them handled this weekend. Took the beadlocks rings off and went and saw my friend over at Discount. He broke the rear beads for me and even slipped the new tires on the rims. Took them home and followed Randy and Tim's directions. By the way used 18ft/lbs of torque for the beadlocks as recommended by others. Looks bitchen, sorry no photos. You will just have to see them this weekend! Thanks again guys! offroadracer
Discount will charge you extra for beadlocks!!! IF They even will do them now , They used to do mine, and they would b*tch about doing them

All my friend had me do was dismantle them at home and bring them in. I still had to reassemble them at home. Its actually easy to do at home. Only took me an hour for all four. Not bad for a tire rookie.
