ahsumtoy
I guess the moral of the story is don't speak about what you don't understand. I guess I don't understand either. I bought a sandrail to go into the dunes. I didn't buy a jumping wheelie rail that looks good SITTING at the hill. My car is probably one of the slower cars out there but I don't sit for very long anywhere. The sand is there to be punished and I'll spank it to death. I like your attitude Don. I live in Arizona and there is a site call ridingarizona. Any time a topic comes up like what is the best quad, what is the best truck, etc., you know there is going to be trouble. I bought my rail to ride the dunes, it's not the quickest, the prettiest, or the badest, but boy I sure have fun in it. I believe there isn't a rail out there that is the best. What is best for someone is not the best for someone else. Hopefully, you get you gen working and I'll have a chance to meet ya and others this coming kick-off weekend. barefoot bob
my biggest hang up with the dual sport cars is there a heavy monster im not one for leaving a person stranded. at minimum ill go get help for them . i cringe at the meer thought of a 3500 lb sand cars buried up to the pan up hill . or worse flat ground surrounded by hills . i always thought you tried to keep them as light as possible so you can also be able to be recovered. to each is own. i dont like the growing trend imo i see more flip overs more massive stuck cars. i think they most sand cars are pretty. i think the monsters look cool. and they look tough enough for the desert. but i think it is a valid point to assume they are not set up as well as they should be. higher up is higher center of gravity. the off road race cars have as much travel yet sit lower. and trends can be dangerous. so if someone is reading this if i gave them a little food for thought on a purchase then i didnt waste my time voicing an opinion. and im sure ogp didnt mean evryting out there that has long travel is a monster. i myself own a long travel and its by no means a monster. what i refer to as a monster sand rail are these cars wirh 38" tires and the droop sucked out of them that to me is a monster sand car. so i would not own a 38" monster car with the droop sucked out are they cool looking? absolutely. dual sports are to heavy for the dunes in my measly opinion. and while i dont like that trend i do not like funcos look either other than the sst 4 seat there pretty cool
90+ PLUS
in my opinion, i think these "monster cars" are my favorite kind of cars. if i could have the HP in a naturally aspirated motor to turn 38" paddles and push 40" fronts, i'd be stoked, i wouldn't have the droop sucked out or any thing and i would not sit at the hill all day, i'd drive it there wouldnt be very much sitting around with me. but thats just me and how i would spend my money building the car i would want. Don29palms
One more thing about those cars. I have never seen so many cars with a price tag of 150K on the low side to 250K plus on the high side. I'm sorry for 250K I could buy my car and pay off my house and then buy a Viper and still have money left over to take the next year off to play with my new toys.
