tylerthehucker
how serious is riding with no flag; more specifically, with a group of people. i realize saftey first and that a flag is mainly for my own saftey. (i ride a dirtbike) but when i go to do tricks like supermans and nac-nac's, the flag seriously gets in the way. how much trouble would i be in, or how much would it cost me if when i got to a jump, i took my flag off while i was hitting the jump and laid it on the ground or whatever? i would have spotters and everything, just no flag. any idea? What about the kid or adult that runs into you and gets hurt because they don't see you :beer_bang: Then worry about the fine after that
dunefreak
I think you guys are missing his point that he will have a spotter. I don't think it's a good idea whatsoever to ride through the dunes w/o a flag, but if you are in an area where you have plenty of spotters I can't see how a ranger would really give you a ticket as long as you are being safe. Then again I have been wrong in the past on certain occasions about thinking the rangers were gonna be cool. :beer_bang:

ntrsandman
What about the flags that are attached to a small backpack? I've seen them at D. Gotta be better than no flag. And should not interfere with tricks. JM2cents

tylerthehucker
i make darn sure that i dont hit anybody. that would never end good for me, nor the other party. thats why i have somebody or a few people waving me on or off. i typically just wedge a flag under my seat so it sticks out far and is easy to take off, or fall off if i accidentally kick it.. and thats how i usually do it, is just ride untill i decide im gunna start hucking myself (hence my screen name), then i just pull it off and set it down... but nobody seemed to awnser the question as to how big of a fine that would be had i got caught doing it...? suzukilt
I was told by a ranger that is was about $25, we had broken one on the kids lt80 and on the way back to camp the ranger stopped us, but since I had the broken one in hand he did not write us up, he was actually pretty cool
tylerthehucker
ya, usually the rangers are pretty cool. which is sort of my plan. i would hope that they understood that im riding with spotters and we all take turns jumping and are being responsible. they should realize that im being safe and probably have other issues to worry about than me riding in one big circle for 3 hours in a row with no flag. motoxman30
i dont see the problem there if u got a flag goin over to the jump its all good u have spotters :shout: and thats better than the flag ur just stayin in one area and u got a few people watchin u..to me that sounds reasonable to the rangers...i dont know wut theyd say its probably more dangerous with a flag doin that stuff supermans and nac nacs ...u hit the flag and lose ur balance...well its a long fall + with u doin that stuf everyone would form a circle around u just to watch and i dont know how u could get better than that but yeah ride over with a flag take it off then when u leave put it back on makes sense

ntrsandman
Hey I wasn't complaining. I say let it fly untill someone does. Someone did I guess! Someone else removed it, not me! I know you wouldn't complain, Sean. Unless there was some glitch that caused it to disappear, I will figure that it was not "DDR politically correct" and was removed. I can always put it back up to see if it happens again! I ask, how was that pic more risque than the :porn: :porn: :porn: smilies? This must be better than the real thing! If it was taken down, then it means that it wasn't considered ok. There are reasons why the rules are the way they are. PM me if you have any problems with them and I'll be glad to explain the difference between a humping banana smilie and your avatar you had posted up. I'm sorry, but this type of thing is sometimes hard for some members (like yourself) to understand what we mean.

It's a $25.00 fine. But that is not the end of it. By you not having flag and him stopping you, it allows him to have probable cause to check for anything illegal such as, "green" sticker, spark arrestor, sobriety check and even run your vin if he deems. For those of us that reside in Nevada it is not a law that your machine have a title, but in California it is the law. All over San Diego (my hometown) I am hearng stories of guys that were at Gordon's well and were cited for no registration. In California if your bike gets imponded for any reason you must have either a title or a manufactures certificate of origin in order to claim it from impound. A bill of sale does not show legal ownership. FYI

TheAlaskan
I got a $50 dollar fine a couple of years ago for straying a little too far away from camp in my truck. But the Ranger was cool as hell and we ended up bullsh*tting for a while. So I say, as long as you have plenty of spotters and use a flag everywhere else I dont see why there would be a problem. So huck away, and your gonna have to tell me where your going to do this so I can watch too!

rednekoki
I dont get it! If its the law and a rule why would you go so far out of your way not to put a cheap azz flag on your bike? I mean we all have nice lookin bikes and if it was that big of a deal i would just put a nice lookin flag on my bike rather than completely go out of my way to brake the law and put everyone around me in danger :beer_bang: ! FYI right on, good information. thanks alot! i have the title to my bike, but no registration because like you says, Nevadan's dont need it. but im not going to bring the title all the way to dumont to get lost or stolen or have anything happen to it. but thanks again!
