Friend has a HP laptop with Vista home basic and he bought a Logitech V220 USB cordless mouse, it didn't have the software so I went to Logitech and downloaded the software for V220 and Vista. When I plug in the USB thingie it says found new hardware and then I click load drivers when it askes if it should, it goes online and looks for 5 minutes or so and then says it cannot find it. When I open the mouse program it does not have all the tabs to check battery, mouse settings, etc like the help sayes to check.

I plugged the USB thingie into my Dell with XP and the mouse worked without having to load any drivers or software.

What should I do now?

At the step in bold do you have a choice to piont to the driver you downloaded instead of going to the internet to look?

We backrev everything here at work to XP, so I am taking a shot in the dark.

No option to browse, I have done the instructions, I found on the help to do reconnect in the software program and it says to unplug, restart reconnect option, replug, which I do and it shows found new device but then goes thru the whole going online to find drivers.
