Guest Crasher
We had to go pick up our kids from my parent's house this weekend. They live in Paradise, CA, about 80 miles Northeast of Sacramento, basically where all of the fires are. Here are some pics of what we saw, and a few others of our trip. The smoke was suffocating!! I feel bad for the kids because they couldn't leave the house for the most part because of the air quality for 3 weeks. By the time we left yesterday, they had it 65% contained, so the air wasn't too bad. They had firefighters from 41 different states come up there to battle this thing. Just amazing. They hope to have it 100% contained by the end of the month. They were all started by dry lightening storms and then the wind kicked everything up. Pretty sad to see the devestation in some parts...... I love my new camera!! It was fun to play with all the different settings. Hope these pics came out okay! duniemonkie
Wow Tiff, great job. Your pics remind me of the Times magazine 'Year in Review'. The sign asking people to stay out was the best, very moving. :freakin_nuts:

The sign asking people to stay out was the best, very moving. :freakin_nuts: Thanks Anna!! It was horrible, people were already being looted just hours after the fires were put out. People were bringing their trucks in and loading up whatever was salvageable. A few got arrested, so that was good. Can't believe people would try to cash in on someone else's tragedy..... sand chick
Great pix Tiff!! It is soo sad that people have to try and make things even worse for the families as if they aren't devistated enough! You should try and turn some of those into MSN for thier week in pics contest!! Like Anna said that one about this is all we have left is very moving! Prayers go out to the families! My parents just sent me some pix this morning of a fire up at Mt Adams and not to far away from their place in Troutlake they are hoping its contained before it reaches their place!! bp-guy
That reminds me of the Harris fire we had here a few months back. I saw it start off in the horizon and within a few hours it was out of control. I was in Sacramento a few weeks ago recruiting for the Border Patrol and the air quality was definately not good. I stayed indoors most of the time but managed to walk around old sac for a little bit in the morning. The looters need to be shot on site! We dealt with that here as well. Those guys are absolute scum for trying to profit off others misfortune. Arrest them and put their photos on the front page of the newpapers. Are you kidding???? OF COURSE we rolled in Chico!! Spent a lot of time there actually. The pic of all the firefighters at the table is from Franky's Italian Restaurant near the college. That place rocks!! I was bummed because while we were downtown, a huge line of fire trucks (about 8 of them) drove down 3rd street (where we were) and everyone was clapping and they were honking their horns. It was really cool, but I couldn' get my camera out fast enough :freakin_nuts: I love Chico - beautiful campus too. I've spent quite a bit of my life there..... :freakin_nuts:

My4DrGSR
Wow, really great pics chica. Some stuff is sad, then there's the sweet firefighter signs, shows that the people that do care and appreciate, and I agree, the looters should be shot!
